1343.381: “Hello, Book.”

I speak Common. I speak Common well. To write, though? I only write receipts. This is my first time writing to a book.

Alice gave me this strange book with blank pages on it. She said it was a gift for doing so well here in town. She said that humans write things in these blank books so that their children know what they were like. She said that to make it easier, they write as if they were talking to their book.

 Hello, Book.

Introducing: Phyndell

I’m a real big fan of fantasy. Magic and the like. But I like science fiction, too. I know it’s been done before, but it’s a setting I haven’t seen a whole lot, and one that I really like: Science Fantasy.

I’d like to introduce Phyndell: a Modern-esque world with fantasy elements. It will be the core setting for my first story, the Diary of Xanei (Title pending. I suck at titles).

Phyndell is my tribute to the old fantasy genre. Games like Final Fantasy, Dungeons and Dragons, and even Dragon Quest, even though I’ve never actually played it. It contains classical fantasy elements, like monsters and elves, but places them in a modern world, with cities and cars and electronics.

Those that have followed Shards of Cendaran in the past probably recognize this as a new setting, if they recognize it at all. Don’t worry, I’m not leaving behind old favorites like Sahn’du and Lu’ho. I’ll visit those later on. They’re not forgotten.

The Shards of Cendaran – A brief personal introduction

A lot has happened in the past while. I know I have a few friends following the Shards of Cendaran movement, and I know it hasn’t done much. But here’s what’s happened.

We realized that we really didn’t have much in the way of being able to create a video game, like we were hoping we would be able to. I’d still like to do it, but it’s going to require money and people I don’t have. The company itself is pretty  much dissolved, and Shards of Cendaran is mine alone again.

I would like to write short stories about the Shards of Cendaran worlds, though, and about its people. Where most of the previous stories I had come up with were about heroes and villains, I wanted to do some stories about more more ordinary people and about the amazing adventures that seemingly normal individuals can accomplish.

I would like to tell the stories of the big name heroes some time, but I think I’ll save those stories for when I have the resources to make a game or an animation in order to do so.

This site is going to become a collection of short stories revolving around people in the Shards of Cendaran universe. Exploring the lives and the troubles that people overcome in the evolving and ever-changing galaxy and its worlds. Because even if there is a hero out there fighting to save what they hold dear, things are constantly moving elsewhere.
